英國大學排名另類解讀-Times & RAE
對于中國學生和家長來說，最熟悉的英國大學排名莫過于Times排名了，其實，英國大學最重視的排行榜并不是Times，而是RAE，下面，小猴子針對這兩個排行榜給大家分析一下。
（1）Times
《泰晤士報》世界大學排行榜是該報高等教育雜志編輯制作的，以《泰晤士報》教育副刊的形式發表。《泰晤士報》排名是中國學生和家長最熟悉的一種排名體系，每年發布一次。
備注：times排名是國內機構比較關注的排名，它的指標主要包括：師資、學生就業率、學生滿意度和學校設施等。尤其是最有一項學校設施使得部分學校每年的排名極不穩定，這部分包括：學校新建了一個商學院或者圖書館、游泳館等。去年白金漢大學一躍成為times排名20名左右的學校，但是今年又一下跌到40多位，就是因為去年該校建了一個游泳館，因此times排名不能真正體現學校在教學以及研究方面的真實實力。如果要參考times排名，不能只參考一年的指標，一定要參考至少3-5年的排名結果。
（2）RAE
RAE（Research Assessment Exercise）大學排名是英國唯一的一種官方排名，也是英國各機構院所研究實力的直接依據，每四至五年左右發布一次。英國大學并不十分重視各媒體或報紙的排名，但對RAE的評分高低卻異常重視，原因主要有以下幾個方面：
? 英國國立大學的教學和研究經費是由國家直接撥款的，教學經費通常按學生人頭撥款，各校之間并無太大差異；但研究經費則完全仰賴于專業星級的高低，4*和1星級之間的差異可以是天壤之別；為了獲得政府的研究經費，各大學均不惜成本地提高自己的研究星級；
? 各國際大公司其相當一部分的R&D研究項目是由大學來完成的，那么R&D研究項目究竟給哪所大學，將完全依賴于其RAE星級的高低；
? RAE星級越高，勢必在這個領域里聚集的頂尖科學家和專家教授的數量也就越多，從而影響到學生受教育的質量。
英國大學RAE星級，是由英國政府來評定的，因而也最有權威性是學生擇校的主要參考依據。
